Posted by Michael Stokes in : Technology, webtools , trackbackYou upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 and you get the runonce screen with an error. It won’t go away. You can’t change the home page. What do you do? You do this:
Go to START, click RUN and type gpedit.msc (Group Policy). - From the left side menu click USER CONFIGURATION.
- Then click ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES.
- Then click WINDOWS COMPONENTS.
- Then click INTERNET EXPLORER.
- In the right column under SETTINGS double-click PREVENT PERFORMANCE of first run customize settings.
- Choose the ENABLED radio button.
- Choose under Select Your Choice to GO DIRECTLY TO IE PAGE.
- Then click APPLY and OK.

You rock! I prefer Firefox, but I use both IE7 and Firefox each day to stay familiar with both. I had fortunately set IE7 to open several tabs as my homepage, so I could always use the second tab when needed. But, this problem with the first tab has been driving me nuts for quite a while. Thanks!
